At The Arts Integrative, we use the Apeiron Genetic test kit to generate the raw data of your genetic code, that is then interpreted to deliver hundreds of lifestyle markers. Human has evolved over thousands of years, yet sleep genes are one of the most ancient in the gene pool, and nature did not select for short sleep. We need quality sleep to function properly, behaviourally and cognitively, and manage stress in a sustainable way. And a good night's rest impacts not just the mind, it also regulates hormones, physical repair, inflammation, and ultimately lifespan. Some people believe that they can train the body to function with less sleep. But you can only teach your body to accept diminished levels of performance. Genetics can predict about 50% of your exercise performance trainability, and knowing your genetics will allow you to identify the potential areas that can have the largest impact on performance. While that is true, a lack of ideal genotype does not mean a lack of benefit.
